Yesterday I had the pleasure of going over to Friends Academy which is a private school in Dartmouth for preschool - 8th grade. I worked with Ann Haggerty, the Athletic Director, and Michael Williams, the PE Teacher. They let me come into their gym classes and show the kids a video and then get them on the ergs. Several of the kids were naturals!! There were 3-4 kids that have some sort of rowing experience, either from a summer camp that they've gone to or because a family member owns an erg and they've used it.
One kid, Walker, is 13 and just about 6 feet tall was pulling 1:33 splits for a couple hundred meters. I don't know how long he can hold that but sheesh I was impressed! There were a few of the girls as well that could kick some butt! Hopefully we'll have some of them come out in April to join the team. They were all great kids and would be good additions to the team!
